Here’s how it works:

You select a high deductible coverage, usually between $500 and $2,000, depending on your insurer.

You pay the deductible costs before your insurance "kicks in."

Your insurance company picks up the tab at this point (with certain restrictions - talk with an agent).

You spend a minimal amount for your coverage since you are assuming increased risk.

Make sure that you get at least catastrophic health insurance coverage to prevent becoming a statistic. Many bankruptcies are at least partially due to medical bills. You must protect your family; it it is the responsible thing to do.

I found a neat site designed to educate Kansans on all forms of personal and family insurance. Check it out.

Are you looking for affordable health insurance? If you are currently employed and your employer provides a health insurance plan, then your employer’s plan probably provides your best deal. If you are currently in the waiting period for your coverage to begin, the please consider getting short term health insurance until your coverage comes in force. Temporary, especially temporary catastrophic health insurance provides relatively inexpensive protection for your family.

Short term health insurance in Kansas is not difficult to obtain or necessarily expensive. These types of insurance products provide minimal coverage with high deductibles which only cover you after you pay the deductible. This way, should you, or a family member, be diagnosed with a serious illness or be severely injured, your family would only be out the deductible (say $5,000) instead of being liable for hundreds of thousands of dollars for a stay in ICU. It is only smart to mitigate your risk with such a policy.
